In Loving Memory of Carl Junior Chitwood

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl Junior Chitwood, a beloved member of the North Hill Community in Akron, Ohio. Carl left behind a legacy that will be cherished by his family and friends for generations to come.

Carl was born on February 14, 1939, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, but he spent most of his adult life in Akron, Ohio. After proudly serving in the Air Force, Carl moved to Akron in 1958 and became an integral part of the North Hill Community. He was a true champion of the community, actively participating in local events and activities.

Carl is survived by his loving companion, Sheila Chitwood, as well as his five grandchildren, Christopher Herbert, Joseph Herbert, Nicholas Herbert, Sabrina Fate, and Vincent DeSimone. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren, Logan Herbert, Cameron Herbert, Zachary Herbert, and Cooper Lee Vanfossen.

Carl's family was extremely important to him, and he took great pride in being a devoted father, son, and brother. He is also survived by his daughter, Carla Herbert; son, James Chitwood; daughter, Nadine DeSimone; and son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Jason and Ashley Chitwood.

In addition to his family, Carl's faith was another source of comfort for him. He was an active parishioner at Blessed Trinity Church, where he was confirmed into the Catholic faith in 2019. Carl was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and enjoyed hobbies such as bowling and golfing up until recently.

Despite only having an 8th grade education, Carl went on to become a successful entrepreneur, establishing his own business, B & C Glass. His determination and hard work served as an inspiration to all who knew him.

Carl will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but we take comfort in the memories he left behind. His legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to his community will continue to inspire us for years to come.
